Gun powder and its effects on us?

What has gunpowder effected - WW1/2 guncrime etc - and how does that effect us now/ what would it be like without it? Gun powder and its effects on us?
Gunpowder (black powder) has not been used for some time now in weaponry, as it was replaced by cordite. Gunpowder is now only used in fireworks (really just returning to its roots!)

Therefore, if it ceased to exist, nobody would notice any difference in the world.

If you mean the effects of weapons such as guns, rifles (including automatic), bombs etc then hard to say what life would be like without them. The earliest ';gun'; in existence today has been dated to 1288, and obviously they were in use before this. Englands great victory over the French at Crecy in 1346 was the first use of cannon in European warfare.

Life with ';powder'; in one form or another has been evolving with us for a very long time, and has shaped our history. Gunpowder, and its successors, have been such a part of human existence that it is impossible to imagine a world that has evolved without its influence.

Jack Kelly wrote a really good book on the subject, entitled simply ';Gunpowder'; which is well worth reading if you are interested in this subject.

Can hot Cocoa mix count as cocoa powder in a recipe?

*Recipe is frosting....Can hot Cocoa mix count as cocoa powder in a recipe?
no b/c the cocoa mix is sweeter than the cocoa powderCan hot Cocoa mix count as cocoa powder in a recipe?
It also has dried milk, so it will add a different flavor. For frosting you could probably try it, just don't add as much sugar or milk as the recipe normally calls for (if it does so). You might also need to add more cocoa mix that you would cocoa powder because the flavor is not as concentrated.
no they are not the same

cocoa mix has other ingredients in it to make it an instant milk drink

it would add a weak chocolate flavor to your recipe

plain cocoa is pure chocolate and adds a more intense chocolate

flavor to your recipe
Usually cocoa mixes that just require adding water and they are ready to drink already have sugar and all that stuff to make it a nice drink. I belive for your frosting you need some plain cocoa.
It work because of the sugar that is added, pure cocoa powder has no sugar and is great for recipies, its more condensed.
no because cocoa mix has sugar in it. It will not react nor taste the same as

pure cocoa powder. Sorry

How do you make Voodoo or Zombie powder?

If you really want to know you have to travel to Haiti and speak with a Bokor. However you may encounter a little resistance. Bokors work in secret and dont like outsiders in thier buisness. Read the book ';The Serpent and the Rainbow'; by Wade Davis. The book is about his trips to try and find out what is in zombie powder. After you read that you probably will not want to find out.How do you make Voodoo or Zombie powder?
There's an herbal mix that can give a person the appearance of a zombie. It is related to Voodoo, but good luck on finding the recipie. How do you make Voodoo or Zombie powder?
Maybe you have to catch a zombie and grind him/her up? Just kidding. Just kidding.
i dont think I wanna know , and I dont think you need to know .
Tetrodotoxin is 10,000 times more deadly than cyanide and capable of killing an adult in doses as small as one milligram. Do you still wanna know?
Can you be more specific on what the purpose of the powder is? I don't care what you're up to with it, but I don't know any powders by those names and am wondering if maybe it's another name for a different powder recipe I know of.
voodoo as in hollywood movies is munjo jumbo...the real voodoo is a religion and if you wanna know what it is about check out this link: http://www.religioustolerance.org/voodoo鈥?/a>

  • Does Cover Girl TruBlend naturally luminous loose powder contain any minerals?

I was under the impression it did (certain websites claim it does) and went ahead and bought some. But I just realized the container itself states no such thing. Which seems weird if it does contain minerals. I'm a little upset coz that's the whole reason I bought it. Does anyone know?

Also, after how long should you throw away loose powder?Does Cover Girl TruBlend naturally luminous loose powder contain any minerals?
I saw on the Today show, that there should be an expired date , ck for year that should help etc, etc,

White powder in the giant mushrooms in the old version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

???White powder in the giant mushrooms in the old version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?
Probably something made from powdered sugar. But it looked more like marshmallow creme to me.I read that in that scene, everything (literally....down to the ';teacup'; flowers) was edible. They did it to make it more realistic.White powder in the giant mushrooms in the old version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?
It was actually whipped cream. I was watching this movie one night and it was showing little pop up facts about the movie and they showed that the cream was really just that..... cream. Also when you see Willie Wonka biting the little flower cup, that was hardened wax and he spit it out right after the take.
My guess would be Marshmallow fluff or whipped cream. It was not a powder. The powder was on something else like a flower or something...
    powder?

    wasn't it gooey marshmallow stuff?
    Oompaloompa POO!!!
    powder or cream?

    either way:

Um, I'm pretty sure it was whipped cream.

Turn A Herb In To A Concintrated Powder?

Is It Possible To Turn A Herb Into A Powder That Will Dissolve Into Water Clearly? Or Any Way To Consintrate It Into A Dry Form. By This I Dont Mean Tinctures ( I Can Desolve It Into Everclear 190proof But I Hate The Teaste Of Alcohol) Can Any One Share Some Knowledge?Turn A Herb In To A Concintrated Powder?
You can extract chemicals from herbs. Alcohol is one of the best solvents used. They typically extract that sort of material in a particular type of distillation unit and then evaporate the alcohol. You would be left with a concentrate minus the alcohol. it can be dangerous because some chemicals in herbs are toxic and you are concentrating them. Dry powder is mostly plant material but if the herb is fairly concentrated, you could just dry it on very low heat and grind it into a powder. Tinctures usually just stabilize the compound. it probably isn't doing anything else. i would just dry it and powderize the herb like oregano.
