Garlic SALT or Garlic POWDER for home made garlic bread?

Neither one. I use melted butter and Mrs Dash garlic blend or some similar type of non salt garlic herb mixture. There is enough salt in the butter or margarine to give the garlic herb mixture a wonderful taste on fresh french bread. I cut up small bits of garlic. (about 10 cloves to a loaf of bread) and wow. It blows your mind.
Garlic Powder and butter is all you need. You can either spread the butter on and then your garlic powder or melt the butter and put the garlic powder in the melted butter, then brush it on.

If you want authentic garlic bread, buy a clove of real fresh garlic. Spread the bread with olive oil ( go easy) and sprinkle with fresh pressed garlic. A dash of good fresh Paprica and some melted butter. Broil/Toast to a color you like.
Neither - saute crushed garlic in a combo of olive oil and butter, spread on bread and put under the broiler for a minute or two to get crispy. Season with a little salt - very yummy!





But when I don't have time - I use both garlic salt and powder - straight garlic salt is too salty and straight powder not quite seasoned enough.

1 stick butter softened


4 cloves garlic chopped fine


2 teaspoons dried basil


1/2 teaspoon dried oregano


2 teaspoons garlic powder


1 loaf french bread





Mix first 5 ingredients together, spread over bread split lengthwise in half and heat in 400 oven for about 5 minutes. Then turn up to broil until toasted, watch carefully so you don't burn it. Enjoy. Great with pasta and a red Italian wine.
Probably salt, you use less of it for more taste.
You can use garlic salt, but don't use too much, if you want a lot of garlic flavor, just use the powder.

Ingredients:


3 tablespoons salt


1 tablespoon garlic powder





Steps:


1. Just mix together thoroughly.





2. Enjoy.

You have a choice.





1. replace the salt with garlic salt


2. garlic powder as the salt will cause other probelms (combats the yeast)
Powder. You have to use too much of the garlic salt to get the garlic flavor.
Either will work. I prefer Garlic salt...because i like my garlic bread to be salty...


minced garlic works great too.


Garlic powder will give it a blander garlic flavor...but lots of people prefer it to the salt variety
Everyone is giving good answers. You should try some of their ideas till you find one that you really like. I can't add anything better.
Fresh garlic or garlic powder with a little Parmesan cheese/butter spread. Mince a little Italian parsley into it if you have it. Garlic salt with the melted butter might be too salty.
