I eat 4 meals a day:
Breakfast: 2 egg white omlette, brown toast, skim milk
Lunch: grilled chicken breast sandwich (w/ lettuce, tomato, no mayo)
Pre-workout meal: mixed nuts or banana
Post-workout meal: fat-free smoothie w/ protein booster
Dinner: rice w/ grilled chicken/fish and vegetables, some kind of fruit (banana)
I have about 2 liters of water (4 bottles) a day.
I go to my university gym as such: mon: chest, tues: neck/back, wed: biceps/triceps/forearms, thurs: legs; I train with heavy wights and low reps; I do no cardio (afraid of losing muscle).
Currently, I am in a ';bulking up with muscle stage'; for about 5-6 months, then moving on to a ';cutting'; phase, thus reducing my body fat percentage, helping me get a leaner body. I have already gained 2 pounds in over a week since starting to work out. As you can see, I have carefully watched my diet with no sugars (fruit juices), no junk foods (candy/chips),Can I bulk up with muscle without taking any whey protein powder or supplement?
You need a good all-round diet rich in protein (meat, fish, eggs, cheese, chicken, nuts, pulses, etc), carbohydrate (pasta, potatoes, rice, etc) vitamins + minerals (green veg, fruit, nuts, liver, tomatoes, beetroot, etc.) and just a little unsaturated fat (plant source eg sunflower oil in cooking, margarine, etc.), + plenty of fluid.
Muscle is made mainly of the proteins myosin, actin and tropomyosin. Bone has a calcium phosphate backbone with collagen (a protein filler). So you need plenty of milk and cheese to provide calcium and Vitamin D (cholecalciferol).

You are getting a fair amount of protein in your diet, which is essential to build muscle. But you really need to supplement it with whey protein shakes before and after training to bulk up. There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking protein supplements, and you will quickly see results.
