I'm 17. I don't live with my dad, but when I do see him he occasionally tells me that I wear too much makeup-- it's just very thin eyeliner and brow powder! It makes me feel uncomfortable when he says that. What should I say?
When I'm with my mom I sometimes go all out and wear mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadows, etc and she doesn't say anything..When I see my dad, I only wear eyeliner and brow powder but he thinks it's too much makeup?
Mothers are generally more accepting of make-up on their daughters, because they too have been at an age where they started wearing and experimenting with make-up, Dad's however, just see their little girls (and they will always be little girls in father's eyes) dressing up and becoming sexual (because that's how men see make up), which is a scary thing for fathers!
So, when you see your dad, try using a lighter color eyeliner, brown or something similar, and use it on the top lid instead of the bottom where it is more noticeable. The added advantage of this is it will make your eyes seem more 'open' and give you a fresh natural look (which other guys will dig)
Good Luck! When I see my dad, I only wear eyeliner and brow powder but he thinks it's too much makeup?
